No more trailer sway!
After speaking with Rick several times I finally ordered the Hensley Arrow sway control hitch on Dec. 30 last year and received it within just a few days. Although I was nervous about spending so much money on a hitch, Rick was very patient in answering all of my questions. I figured I had nothing to lose as I had to do something to control my trailer sway. I have a 31ft Dutchman trailer with a slide that I pull with an Excursion. Even with the beast pulling it, at times it seemed the trailer was in control. It was a white knuckle experience driving on the highway. I was on the verge of selling my travel trailer as I didn't want to go very far from home because it was so stressful.

When I saw the video you sent I was pretty convinced from the testimonials but I still thought it would only make a slight, probably barely perceptible, difference. Boy was I wrong.

My first trip was 600 miles down the I-95 corridor from Baltimore to Myrtle Beach. I made this trip last year with this same trailer and was blown all over the highway by the trucks. It took much longer than it should as I averaged 50mph due to the stress.

This year the difference was amazing. I cruised at 70-80mph in total control. Trucks passing me had absolutely NO EFFECT on the trailer. In fact, other than the weight of the trailer I would not have even known it was back there. Heck, I was passing trucks at will. I can tell you I never would have even considered that with the old sway control hitch. You may not believe this but when we stopped for gas or meals I actually looked forward to getting on the road again. I truly enjoy pulling the trailer now.

I just returned from another trip, only 200 miles this time, and was once again reminded of the excellent value I receive from this hitch.

Now I can cruise along at, or above, the speed limit in any lane I choose with no stress or concern whatsoever. The trip was very enjoyable for my wife and kids (I have 5 kids) as I wasn't telling them to keep quiet or getting upset because of my stress. The other thing about this hitch is the enhanced stability I feel. My trailer is very tall and used to move a lot when driving on narrow roads with soft shoulders and a lot of sideways dips. With the solid bar between the Excursion and trailer I do not feel the trailer move at all even on poorly made roads.

I have told everyone I know and meet about this hitch because it is the only product I have ever purchased that did exactly what was advertised and far exceeded my expectation. I am now one of your best salesmen.

Sincerely,
Clarence Bryan

"not "almost" eliminated - it is "totally" eliminated"
Thank you for your gracious help when we visited your office in Davision.
Since purchasing our Hensley Arrow hitch for our 30-foot travel trailer, we have traveled many thousands of miles around the United States and Canada, driving on freeways, state highways, and numerous back roads. The Hensley hitch has been great in all cases. Sway is not "almost" eliminated—it is "totally" eliminated.

While we normally like to travel back roads, last month we had to make a quick Interstate Highway trip from Albuquerque to Cleveland to visit my mother who was seriously ill. Because we had the Hensley Arrow hitch, I was able to drive fifteen miles per hour faster than I could have with an "old-fashioned" hitch. This got us back to Cleveland a day earlier.

I can assure you that I will never again tow a travel trailer without a Hensley Arrow hitch.

"Your hitch is all you said, plus!"
You have saved a marriage. The Hensley Arrow is unbelievable. We have a 1996 30’ Gulf Stream slide out (high profile) trailer which we previously pulled with a traditional towing system. My job was to back the Suburban up while my husband (Paul) guided me. I never got it right and we had an argument every time. I usually do most of the driving while Paul tried to sleep in the back of the Suburban. With the traditional towing system we were all over the road and I would get frightened when a tractor-trailer would pass us. The least little movement of the steering wheel would send us into a fishtail. We were ready to sell the trailer until we found out about your system. When we inquired about the Hensley Arrow we were told to install it and test drive it and if we didn't like it to send it back.

We installed the "Arrow" in March before heading out to Louisville, KY, which is at least 12 hours away. Paul hooked the trailer up all by himself. Yeah!!! When we left Minneapolis at 4:30 pm the roads were dry and clear. Paul started out driving so we could he could get a feel for the system. We had to stop a couple of times to tighten it up. After a few hours of driving he decided that it was OK for me to drive and he would go to sleep in the back of the truck.

One half hour after I started driving we hit a snowstorm in Wisconsin. Up to this time I had none of the problems that I had experienced previously with the "old" towing system. I started to panic' when I saw trucks in the ditch. I had to swerve at one point and the trailer stayed right with me. I drove in the snow for three hours and Paul slept the entire time. The next day we hit rain all day and had no problems at all. At one point Paul had to slam on the brakes and the trailer stopped straight just like in your video. On the way home all went well.

Needless to say we will be keeping the Hensley Arrow and have told everyone we know about it and its capabilities. It is the best money we have spent on the trailer. You may reprint any or all of this testimonial and please feel free to give out names and telephone number for references.

In September 1997, after purchasing a new 35ft Jayco Travel Trailer, I left Seattle, WA for south Texas. Using a conventional (pull rite) hitch system, I soon began experiencing terrific fish tailing making it almost impossible to control the tow (full size van) vehicle. I stopped at an RV service garage and they installed a brake type anti-sway bar on the hitch and a front sway bar on the van. The van comes equipped with front sway bar.
This helped a lot but if I got over 50 mph the sway would still be uncontrollable, when a truck would pass me going down a hill. I stopped at another RV service store and they added a second brake type anti-sway bar. This offered very little improvement. I continued the trip not getting over 50 mph and driving only about 300 to 350 miles per day. I would begin experiencing fatigue after about 200 miles.

While in New Orleans, I ordered the Hensley Arrow tow pkg., installed it and towed my 35 ft Jayco from New Orleans to Seattle, WA. I have never experienced such a drastic change in towing. I "DID NOT GET ANY SWAY". I drove at speeds up to 75 mph. Using the Hensley, it is very easy to forget you are towing.

When your people told me I would not get any sway, using the Hensley, I did not believe them and felt the sale price was too high. I only bought the Hensley because I was desperate for "any improvement". I now know they were telling the gospel and I feel the price was very "LOW" for the improvement in both handling and safety. I was considering purchasing a new "dully" to help alleviate the sway problem. Now there is no reason to and I would rather have my Hensley than a dully with a conventional tow pkg.

However, I did make a mistake when I measured the vehicle height and I had to use the rear air bags to jack the height up, making the rear of the van "Much" higher than the front. I would like to exchange the hitch bar for one with a 3" offset; the van is lower than the trailer. I will pay any expense incurred.

I often read testimonials from other people concerning products they have purchased - but I have never had a real reason to write one until now.
I purchased the Hensley Arrow last year in August and have really been more than satisfied with the results I have received - no more fish-tailing, no more white knuckles, trucks Don't bother me anymore--WOW!I What a change - this all impressed me but not really enough to write a testimonial until - an incident this Spring.

Helen & I were on our way from Roseburg, Oregon to Seaside, Oregon on vacation. We were pulling our 30 ft. trailer traveling at Highway speed (55) when all of a. sudden a car came out of a side road on the right. The only choice I had was to swerve sharply to my left into the oncoming lane and back into my lane to miss oncoming cars.

With an ordinary hitch I know that we would have lost control and maybe flipped the trailer or the truck over. This did not happen. The truck and trailer responded without fishtailing or losing control.

I am certain that if we had Not Had The Hensley Arrow, we would either be dead or at the very least seriously injured in the accident that would have happened - But didn't - Thanks to the Hensley.

In the last two years my wife and I experienced a couple of hair-raising events when our suburban and trailer began swaying violently. The first occurrence was as a result of a semi truck passing us late at night at high speed, well in excess of the speed limit. We were thrown into a violent sway that covered both lanes. We were literally out of control. The second event was very similar to the first. In both instances it seemed as though a terrible accident was imminent. Fortunately no other vehicles were near us, and ultimately I got the car back under control with no damage other than a bent hitch. It was those incidences, which compelled me to look for a way to control sway. Eventually my search took me to the Hensley Arrow.

Since we began using the Arrow, the problem with induced swaying has been completely eliminated. Big semis passing by at high speed have no effect of any consequence. Realizing, as I do now, the very real potential dangers associated with pulling a trailer that, frankly, are never brought to your attention by the trailer dealer, I would not consider pulling a trailer without the Hensley Arrow.

Thank you for giving my wife and me a renewed peace of mind.

We live in southeast Idaho. If you ever need a testimonial, don't hesitate to contact me.

I just have to congratulate you on your wonderful product. I received your hitch in the mail and couldn’t wait to install it. As we all are skeptical of a new product, I took my time and installed the hitch step by step. It was easy. Now for the road test. Well let me just say the wife and I were amazed. I think it's the next best thing to sliced bread and now my wife can drive too with confidence. If you want any more advertising to be done in the Wisconsin Area I would be pleased to pass the word around to every Coast to Coast campground from here to Alaska because we now feel that we could go there with no problems what so ever. The only thing I'd like to add is do you sell new trucks too? HA HA.
Thank you all again.

Have a great summer, as I know we sure will. Happy Campers.

This letter is a little late coming but we feel we need to let you know how much we appreciate the Hensley Arrow Hitch. When we first saw the film on this hitch, neither of us would believe what we saw. After all, anything can be done with film-video to show what you want. We did go to see the Hitch and a demonstration of how it worked and would not have believed it if not seeing it with our own eyes. After being on an interstate with heavy 18-wheel traffic and no problems or swaying plus the other demonstration that was given us, we were sold on it. We purchased our hitch and pull a 30 ft Terry with a suburban (94). We have had no problems and the hitch certainly does all that has been shown about it.
Then in July of 1997 we were involved in an accident after being hit by another car that had been hit by a drunk driver. The second car that was hit was thrown into a spin, hitting us. At the time my husband was driving on the freeway at approximately 55 miles an hour. The car was in a spin hitting our trailer on the rear wheel, knocking the trailer up and the car going under a partial part of the rear of the trailer. My husband was able to control the rig and drive smooth: although shaken up, to the side of the freeway and bring us to a safe stop. We believe that the Hensley and its capabilities certainly prevented a different out-come. Even our three young grandchildren were only slightly scared after the incident. The police officer also noted our Hensley and stated that he would have been working a much more serious accident had we not been pulling with this hitch, He was familiar with the hitch as his friend has one.

I also feel very comfortable driving our rig and now share the "road-time" with my husband. We thoroughly enjoy the traveling and seeing new places and meeting new people. We have lots of questions about the hitch and my husband likes to give out any information in regards to it. We both believe that it prevented a much different outcome after our accident and will never pull with out the Hensley Arrow. Thank you for such a great product!!

Your hitch is all you said, plus!
Installation was easy and straightforward.

Our test run of 400 miles round trip was impressive and relaxing. After the white knuckles trip of last fall, fighting just to keep my rig on the road when a Semi passed us, I could not believe the difference. I had a string of 6 Semi's go past without disturbance. GREAT!!

Now I hardly even notice it when a Semi passes us. My wife doesn't notice it at all. My van even handles better in the wind with the trailer connected than by itself!

Your hitch is well worth the cost to get my family to our destination and back in safety.

I'm pulling a 36' Dutchman Royal with a 1994 Ford Super van (E350) with 7 souls on board. Thank you for making our travels safe.

David A. Dorsett

I installed the hitch and made a Shake Down Cruise to Lafayette, Louisiana and back. A grandnephew of mine got married.
I traveled the Interstates on the way there and took the cross-country route coming back. Most roads on the way back were two lanes, winding and somewhat in need of repair in some places.

The hitch did exactly what I was told it would do. The large vehicles were no problem. Some of them I didn't even feel. Of course as I mentioned before, those were never a big problem for me. My problem of "Bouncing" on the freeways has not been eliminated but is now tolerable. The hitch did smooth out the smaller ones and softened the sharp and hard bucking motions. I no longer feel as though I'm riding a bucking horse.

I am still playing with the tension on the spring bars and have not yet decided which position is the correct one.

On August 15th I will depart for Charleston, SC to attend a reunion of an old Army-organization to which I belong. I will continue, from Charleston, to Melbourne. FL. Then will head home through Orlando into the Florida panhandle and westward on I-10 (ugh). I will find out if the hitch will continue doing what it has so far done.

I am well pleased with the way my van handles and have had no problem hitching up. I had at first feared about the hitching part. But, no sweat- it's a piece of cake. I do love leaving the hitch on the trailer. No more manhandling of greasy- hitch assemblies -at every lay over for more than one night, I always removed and secured my hitch and bars.

I have one question. The U-bolts- there are two different locations shown in drawings and photographs where they are installed. Exactly where do they go?

I will send you another report when I return from my trip sometime at the end of this month.

Hello Ron,

WE WILL NEVER HAUL A TRAILER AGAIN WITHOUT A HENSLEY ARROW!!!!! It was hard to believe that the Arrow could make such a difference when hauling our 28ft Surveyor. We prefer a travel trailer to a 5th wheel but were always a little on edge when pulling with a standard hitch with load levelers. The first time we went out with the Hensley, it was as though we had nothing behind our truck (2007 Dodge RAM 1500 Sport model with a HEMI). Even I had the opportunity to experience the difference when I had to bring our trailer home alone from the dealer (25 miles from our home). Before I drove away from the dealer I was a little apprehensive because I had taken the wheel before we received the Hensley and the trailer did a fair amount of fishtailing. Oh, what a treasure! Even our truck has a much more comfortable ride with the trailer attached. No more white knuckle trips for us.

I recently purchased a Hensley hitch. I had decided if I didn't have a Hensley, I was not going to purchase a travel trailer. I purchased the hitch; then I purchased a truck; and then I purchased a 30-foot travel trailer. I used this set-up for the first time this last weekend. I cannot tell you how happy I am with this hitch. There was absolutely zero sway at all speeds and road conditions. This hitch literally makes the trailering experience a true pleasure. I did not care what type of vehicle passed me; the trailer always maintained a very stable position . I no longer have any concerns about pulling my trailer anywhere or under any weather conditions. Thank you for manufacturing a great piece of equipment. If you ever need someone to demonstrate, talk about or show your equipment, please contact me. GREAT HITCH!

Hi Terry. Three years ago we were going down I-81, doing about 65 to 70mph, just above Hagerstown, NY, when I looked in the rear view mirror and saw rubber flying from the left side of the trailer. I pulled over as soon as I could slow down. I was totally amazed at what I saw when I got out of the truck. The left rear tire was totally gone and only had the wheel left. The front left tire was down to the cords and going flat fast. The right side tires on the trailer were okay. I was very surprised that I hadn't felt anything at all in the handling of the truck and trailer at these speeds, which I contribute to the Hensley Hitch.
I was later told that the tires had dry rotted and that the tires on a trailer should be changed every six years. I do keep them properly inflated at all times and check them once a month and before every trip. Luckly everyone was safe.
Thanks for your continued help. Bob Palmer

I JUST WANTED TO SHARE SOME THINGS WITH YOU. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PATIENCE AND SUPPORT ON EDUCATING ME ON THE "HENSLEY CUB". THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS YOU MADE ME CONFIDENT THAT I WAS MAKING A GOOD DECISION ON PURCHASING THE HITCH.

I HAVE MADE THREE TRIPS WITH MY AIRSTREAM SPORT-17. THIS PAST SUNDAY I WAS RETURNING BACK TO YUMA ARIZONA FROM PALMS SPRINGS. THIS IS ALL OPEN DESERT TERRITORY. I DROVE THREE HOURS IN 45-50 MILE AN HOUR WIND GUSTS THAT WERE LITERALLY BLOWING TRUCKS AND FIFTH WHEELS OFF THE ROAD. AFTER MOVING THROUGH TWO SAND STORMS I THINK I PUT THE "HENSLEY CUB" TO THE TEST. I WATCHED THE WIND BLOW MY TRAILER TO THE SIDE BUT MY TOYOTA FJ CRUISER CONTINUED TO DRIVE NICE AND SMOOTH AND STRAIGHT.

I HAVE READ NUMEROUS TESTIMONIES ON THE HENSLEY HITCH AND I AM SURE YOU HAVE HEARD THIS BUT THE HITCH IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. NO SWAY AND EASY TO BACKUP. HOOKING UP MY TRAILER WITH THE HENSLEY HITCH WAS A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE THAN THE NORMAL EVERYDAY HOOKUP. I HOOKED UP MY NEW HITCH THE FIRST TIME WITH NO PROBLEMS. EVEN ON UNLEVEL GROUND THE HITCH WAS CONNECTED SMOOTHLY.

SAFETY WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN DECIDING TO PURCHASE YOUR PRODUCT. I AM SURE MANY PEOPLE ARE TURNED AWAY BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. BUT WHO CAN PUT A PRICE ON SAFETY? NOBODY! AFTER ALL YOU DO GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

THANKS FOR ALL THE SECURITY IN YOUR HITCH!!!!

I received the new Hensley Arrow on Monday and installed it. We left for our 2 week trip on Wed. Everything worked very well. Going across I80 in Wyoming and all the wind and truck traffic was no problem. The only thing tired on me was my bottom. I was not stressed from the trip. There was absolutly no sway. The McKesh mirrors I also purchased from you also worked very well. The cost of the hitch was a shock, but now I will not pull my trailer without it. I consider it an investment, the same as the camper. With each trip, the hitch gets cheaper. The cost of safety can not be measured. Thanks for a very good product. Terry was also a big help with my questions.

Dear Ron, I bought a Hensley Arrow and I finally got to use it, wow! What a difference between a ball and the Arrow. It saved me $58,000. I had a new truck at my house 2 days before the holiday weekend, but wanted to try the Arrow before going in debt again. 15 miles into our trip I felt relaxed and very happy with the Arrow and my F150 Supercre. I found i didn't need an F350 to stop sway. I just needed an Arrow!!! I have a Spree 324 loaded. I would get pushed off the road, that is why i was looking at a bigger truck. Guess what I didn't need it!! the Arrow saved me $58,000. I would like to say THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! It did in fact live up to all everbody said in the video and online. Your people were very nice and helpful. Thanks again for wonderful product. Your friend Jeff Piscura
ps. The Hensley Gold brake
controller works like a charm!!

I am as happy with my purchase of the Hensley Arrow now as I was in 2004. I pull a 28' Keystone Zeppelin probably in the 5000# range with a Jeep Grand Cherokee and never experience sway of any kind. Once to test it out, I made a lane change in a paving zone where they had paved one lane the night before. No problem whatsoever. It has made my towing experience so very comfortable. While the big boys struggle at the campground to park in some tight places, I can, with my short wheelbase tow vehicle, just whip that trailer right into place. As a professional driver, I know that an incident or accident on the road is almost always a collection of errors. Driver error (mine or theirs), fatigue, and road conditions all are contributing factors. The Hensley Arrow gives me one less factor to be concerned with. A towing friend recently told me of his sway "problem" early on in his towing experience, but now that he has the balance down, it isn't the factor that it was before. He does have a good tow vehicle. But if he has to brake hard and take evasive action of any kind, he can't have the absolute confidence that I have that he will maintain complete control. The good stuff always costs more. I can't remember now what I paid for my hitch. But the peace of mind is.... priceless! Thanks for a great product.

Hey Ron,
I wanted to get a few miles on the Hensley Arrow before I bragged about what a great product I bought...I come from a lifetime of camping from a tent to a pop up to a 22 foot travel trailer (all of these when I was a wee child) Then I got married and had a few of my own..(now a 12 and 13 year old... ) I owned a Coleman pop up for a year or two, and upgraded to a 30 foot Wilderness travel trailer..(actually my gracious in-laws let me use it for a summer or two, I pulled them all with my 2000 Ford excursion diesel ..The pop up was a piece of cake, the 30 foot wilderness was a little challenging at times with a Reese weight distributing hitch, But two years ago I bought a 2008 Dutchmen Freedom Spirit 39.6 foot travel trailer with a strait line trunion hitch with a friction sway control....Every trip (20 + thousand miles) I swear I aged 10 years... Trailer Sway was just a way of life with this rig....Every Semi that passed was a scary undertaking....But last September I bought the Hensley arrow, But living in Chicago Area..The Season was almost over...So this spring I took it to Key West FL..1685 miles each way...NO TRAILER SWAY....Only problem was a blow out on the trailer..(No Sway) and my bike rack snapped off the trailer..(cheap Rack's weld snapped) ..But NO TRAILER SWAY the whole trip...So in June I took it to Glacier National Park.....Guess what??? NO TRAILER SWAY...Some times hook ups could be a little challenging....But you get used to it.. Most attempts I needed...TWO...that was because my back up camera had some June Snow over the lens....But this product should be a standard on all trailers over 20 feet....My son (12 years old) likes to tell the other campers about the Hensley Arrow when they ask...He just says the trailer DON'T SWAY ANYMORE..and dad don't curse as much every time a truck passes..Please feel free to let anyone call me if they need some info on this product..Also find attached some great photos of my rig..(2000 Ford Excursion with 7.3 Power stroke Diesel..Airbags Suspension...Super chips power tuner...and a Dutchmen 39.6 foot Travel Trailer @ approx 12,000 pounds)

Thank you for saving a few more gray hairs..,

Hey Ron,

Thanks for the quick reply about my Hensley Arrow sway control hitch. Makes me feel a lot better having assurance from the experts.

And you're right, Andy and the others at Can-Am are some of the greatest folk to deal with. No complaints at all.
As far as the Hensley Arrow goes I'm amazed at how easily something like the 30 footer follows along behind as if its not even there. The only time I notice I'm pulling a trailer is either starting the rig rolling or climbing up a long hill. Having taken it apart its pretty obvious you guys made a quality unit way back then already. I recommend the unit to anyone that asks about it.

Thanks again for the reply.

I hate to tell you this but I bought one of your Hensley hitches used (sold new in 2000 ) I got it in 2005 I have had it in my garage for over five years just setting there. I have three other weight bearing hitches I have set up for different vehicles and trailer combinations.

I will never go on vacation again with out my Hensley Hitch. It's that GOOD. I have a 2005 Pleasureway one ton Van and pull a 6000# 30 foot Keystone Cougar travel Trailer.

Just went across the Texas Panhandle on I-40 with 25 mph side winds blowing from the South, Anyone that has ever went that way pulling a trailer knows how bad it is with the wind blowing. I normally travel that road at night when pulling a trailer to get away from the wind. I have done it for over 30 years and never had a trip that was pleasant until I hooked up my Hensley Hitch, what a deference it made. Trucks passing ,trailer swaying, white knuckle driving none of that now, just straight down the road. I could even drive with one hand on the wheel and visit with my wife when a Truck passed us. I could still feel the wind but no Trailer swaying, the Van and Trailer stayed Straight and Tight. GREAT Product.

A True Believer, Thanks, Max and Sharon Womack

P.S. I don't worry about how it works I just know it works !!!!!!!!!

From Hensley: I replied to Max and ensurd him that I don't care that he bought the Hensley Hitch used, as long as it has kept him safe. We welcome used hitch buyers to call in with any questions about their hitch.
