Hensley Arrow
If you’re like me, you tend to take a “wait and see” attitude when something new hits the market. You probably bought your first VHS player sometime during the Clinton administration and are just now considering a cell phone that does more than make phone calls. That’s understandable. After you’ve been burnt by the “New and Improved” version of a product a few times, you tend to settle back into the tried and true.
The Hensley Hitch
When the Hensley Arrow first hit the market in 1993, that’s the challenge we faced. After buying the patent for the linkage system developed by Jim Hensley, our engineers worked for two years to develop a hitch system around Jim’s prototype. No easy task. But we prevailed and introduced the Hensley Arrow to a skeptical market. And the RV market got a double helping of skeptical when it was being dished out. We’ve seen so many gimmicks to make our RV experience easier and more convenient that many of us wondered how we could possibly handle all the misery that rained down upon us before this list of gadgets came along.
Hensley took a different approach. We didn’t promise sunshine and bluebirds surrounding every camping trip. We took a known problem like trailer sway and worked hard until we could offer a solution–not just a Band-aid–but a real solution to the problem. In twenty years, no one has offered a better solution. Hensley Mfg. and others have suggested new mounting methods, adjustable hitch bars, and even power weight distribution jacks. The question we’ve always asked when considering a change is:
Does this change make the Hensley Hitch more convenient without impacting your safety?

Most of the time, the answer has been “No.” We’ve never allowed marketing pressure to override sound engineering. And that’s the sign of a mature, proven company that you can trust.
Does that mean no changes have been made? Of course not. Over our twenty year history, we’ve made numerous changes to improve the initial design of the Arrow. Options like the lighter Hensley Cub, snap-up brackets, and internal changes for easier hook-ups have been adopted once they pass our strict safety guidelines.
Twenty years after the first Hensley Arrow hit the road, Hensley Mfg. has established itself as the market leader in trailer sway elimination. We’ve survived public scrutiny, the shunning of trailer manufacturers, dishonest claims from competitors, and a couple of recessions that left behind a trail of shuttered RV companies. Rest assured, Hensley Mfg. will be around for decades to come, providing the best in safety for you and your family.
Trailer Sway Control
Actually, we refer to it as trailer sway elimination. We don’t want to “control” the number one cause of trailer accidents, we want to eliminate it. And that’s what the Hensley Hitch does. Trailer Sway is why we got into this business, and it’s what drives us to continue. Trailer Sway is at the center of every decision we make. It’s that laser focus that has made us successful and will keep us successful. It’s that laser focus that will ensure you get the best hitch on the market with unlimited customer support.
